We believe this development will have a negative impact on our neighborhood's safety, traffic, and ecology, and it is up to us to let the Sisters of Mercy and the City Council of Burlingame know this. We need to speak up loudly and clearly to oppose this proposal.
These are steps you can take to help:
Most importantly, talk to your neighbors and friends- Many in Burlingame don't even know that these plans exist! Awareness is the first step. Let people know what is happening. Ask them to email us at ConcernedBurlingameResidents@gmail.com to add their names to our group. Share this website with them. Explain to them that even if they don't live adjacent to the Sisters' property, the influx of traffic and construction vehicles will affect them too.
Let us know if you have any special experience or skills that could help us. Anyone with experience in land use or resource protection law, preserving green space, marketing, city planning, or anyone who has gone through a similar development in the past should feel free to reach out to us.
If you'd like, reach out to us to volunteer your time. We will need people to help distribute flyers or to work on specific projects such as research about tree removals and city ordinances. We may need you to attend city council meetings in the future as well. Let us know if you'd like to help by emailing us.
